Get the inside scoop on a project in Downtown Delhi by Delaware Bulldozing and how our team provided solutions for an important local business.

DelhiTel's office in downtown Delhi was in need of a new parking lot. The old asphalt was crumbling, heaved, and filled with potholes. Additionally, the catch basin near the office entrance was deteriorating and the cracked sidewalk and pavement were creating tripping hazards. It was time for a complete redo. Our team advised that the sidewalks should be replaced at the same time as the parking lot for cost efficiency, safety, and visual appeal of the finished product. With the plan in place, Delaware Bulldozing went to work.

First, the existing blacktop had to be excavated, loaded into dump trucks, and hauled away. The lot was dug down to its sub-base, then regraded and re-graveled to make sure water directed away from buildings. Blacktop removal next to the buildings was carefully done by using a circular saw to cut six inches from the edge of the building so the excavator could operate at a safe distance from the structures. The walkway to the entrance was also dug up, and the old catch basin was removed. The hole was graveled and leveled, and the new catch basin was carefully installed to the perfect height so that when the new asphalt was poured, the runoff would funnel through the grate and into the basin. Concrete forms and rebars were installed for the new sidewalk, and the whole lot was re-paved and concrete was poured for all sidewalks and walkways.

A job isn't complete until everything looks great. All the old material was hauled away from the jobsite, cleaning as we go to make the finished product tidy and aesthetically pleasing. The disturbed earth was scarified and covered with screened and composted topsoil, then seeded and topped with hay mulch. The new blacktop was painted with fresh new parking lines. With everything resurfaced and the landscaping completed, it was another job well-done and a satisfied customer. The DelhiTel crew and their customers are now enjoying the new lot and walkways, and the fresh facelift is a complement to the updates happening around Downtown Delhi.
